Congratulations to Grace Sharma, a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, who was named the Virginia Student Journalist of the Year by the Virginia Association of Journalism Teachers and Advisers.
Sharma is an editor-in-chief at tjToday, which is advised by Lisa Hampton.
After earning recognition in Virginia, Sharma’s portfolio will represent the state at the national student journalist of the year competition hosted by the Journalism Education Association.
In the Virginia competition, James Libresco earned second place. Libresco is a senior at Alexandria City High School, where he is an editor-in-chief for Theogony (Kamilah Lawson, adviser).
McLean High School senior Minsong Ha, an editor-in-chief at The Highlander, earned third place in the state contest (Lindsay Benedict, adviser).
