Each year, the Virginia Association of Journalism Teachers and Advisers honors advisers and administrators who make significant contributions not only to the Virginia journalism community, but also to the national dialogue.

This year’s recipients include:

  • Washington & Lee Young Adviser Award winners Lindsay Benedict and Daniel Reinish
  • Administrator of the Year winner Shawn DeRose
  • Virginia Association of Journalism Teachers and Advisers Award winner School Newspapers Online
  • Virginia Gazette Award winner Alan Weintraut
  • Lifetime Achievement Award winner Beth Skaggs

Also recognized was Virginia Journalist of the Year, Meilan Solly, editor-in-chief of Tuscarora High School’s “The Husky Headline.”
